The Phoenixville Green Team is a group of local volunteers advocating the vision of a greener community that preserves the environment and promotes healthy, sustainable lifestyles and businesses.

We develop and support local initiatives, build awareness and motivate people on how to “live, work, and play green” in the Greater Phoenixville Area.

We are always looking for curious, passionate volunteers and members interested in exploring, advocating and creating local, sustainable and environmentally friendly ways to improve and enjoy our community.

May Forum   Zero-waste Living

"Full-circle thinking and connecting the dots"

Presenter   Jim Crater

Wednesday, May 20th, 7pm @ Molly Maguires

He will bring his wide life experience to the forum with an open discussion on "full-circle thinking, and connecting the dots". As the symbol for recycling is flawed,  so have many efforts been that are aimed at reducing waste & recycling.

Zero-waste living will be discussed, along with various renewable energy & community-based crafting of new products from old.

"My belief is that by empowering others with skills, all of our toolboxes grow and our community is more complete. My proudest comment came from a first grader named Chris, who drew me a picture after my presentation; it said ' When I grow up, I want to be a scientist of recycled stuff’.

Bio: Jim founded and operates Recycling Services Inc now in its 44th year of operation as the oldest community recycling program in PA, as well as the most complete residential recycling program anywhere. Jim has done consulting work for a number of engineering companies on recycling, waste reduction and renewable energy applications.  He also teaches classes on electric vehicle conversion, creates found metal sculptures, rebuilds used solar equipment, welds with his mobile solar-electric and pedal-power equipment (used to power over 40 music events), writes, and has been a silversmith, goldsmith and many other things.
